As a freelancer you’re in control of your work schedule. This can be good or bad depending on how well you manage your appetite for getting things done.

There’s always a temptation to just “do one more thing” before calling it a day. But if you’re like me, that one thing morphs into five things. And what should have taken 15 minutes has taken another hour.

And since you’re already tired and hungry you end the day in a bad mood. Which is no good because when your spouse asks, “So how was your day?” you inadvertently lie to her by saying it was hard and stressful.

But that’s not the truth! The truth is your day was great. You got a ton done. You just made the mistake of trying to squeeze in too much at the tail end.

So what’s the solution?

Ask yourself, “Can this one last thing wait until tomorrow?”

If so, then procrastinate on purpose like Rory Vaden says (a former client of mine) and go recharge your batteries!

Slowly step away from the computer. It will be there tomorrow.
