I love having a morning ritual.
When I take time to do things that fill me up first thing in the morning my day is noticeably better.
And even though I like rituals and routines I don’t necessarily like doing the same thing every day.
What’s important to me is that I actually have a couple free hours in the morning to do whatever I want.
And since we just moved into our new home last week I’m figuring out a new routine.
Here’s what I did this morning…
6:25 – Woke up, showered, shaved and brushed teeth
6:50 – Ate a piece of sourdough toast before making my coffee
7:00 – Took my coffee and walked 45 seconds to my new office
7:01 – Read about meditation in The Celebration of Discipline
7:20 – Read the Bible and meditated on Joshua 1:13
7:50 – Read Breakthrough Advertising to prime my mind for work
8:15 – Walked back to house to eat breakfast with my family
9:05 – Walked back to the office and started my work day!
So I guess my morning ritual takes about 2.5 hours, which seems normal for me.
Tomorrow I may do something similar or I may mix it up depending on how I feel.
Sometimes I also journal or write a gratitude list. Other days I’ll pray more instead of meditating. It just depends. But I like having the freedom to do what I want.
The only thing I don’t like is when I sleep in and wake up at 8:00 and have to rush right to work! So that’s why waking up early is important for me.
So anyway, just wanted to give you glimpse into my new morning ritual.
If you have one feel free to let me know what it is in the comment area below.
