Today was nuts. At least for me.
I think I may have gotten spoiled with how I structure my workdays. I typically only work about 6 hours a day.
But those are “pure” work hours mind you. If I take a break I stop my timer. And I’ve realized after about 6 hours of real work I’m out of brain power.
So working nearly 10 hours today made me feel like a crazy workaholic! Here’s what I did today:
Woke up around 7:30 a.m. and had about a 1.5 hour morning ritual. I ate a quick breakfast (cereal) and ran back out to the office.
I spent the next 3 hours troubleshooting some marketing automation issue for a client we just launched last week. Then I met with the client for about 45 minutes before spending another 2 hours on this project! So about 6 hours were spent on one client today, which was about 4 more hours than I had planned!
But sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do!
I finally ate “lunch” around 4:00 p.m. after I stumbled out of my office in a daze from working way too long without any breaks!
My wife and kids were gone all day so I just found random things in the freezer to heat up: mostly just pasties and wontons.
Then I spent an hour making a video for a client’s Facebook ad. After that I followed up on a new proposal and went through some emails.
It was a crazy busy day.
And I realized this is how I work when I’m home alone. Usually my family is here during the day so I have an incentive to take longer breaks and actually stop working after dinner.
But when they’re gone I binge work! Not sure if it’s healthy but at least it’s more productive than binge watching Netflix (at least that’s how I justify it!).
Anyway, my brain is fried. And I have ZERO creativity left to “create content” for a blog post today.
Sorry, I wasn’t more helpful today. Maybe tomorrow. I’ve spent all my energy helping my clients and team today. I’ll do better tomorrow. 🙂
