On January 1, 2017 I quit Facebook. I deleted my account after 9 years of being on it.

And it feels amazing!

It’s been over 7 months and I can honestly say I don’t miss it at all.

In fact, I’ve had such a good experience quitting Facebook I decided to wean myself off social media entirely.

I wasn’t using Twitter but I was still using Snapchat and Instagram.

I removed Snapchat about 2 months ago. And I just decided to stop using Instagram on the 4th of July (yesterday) to celebrate my “freedom from social media.”

To be free from the constant obsession of checking social media is a great feeling. It’s like I get to enjoy real life all over again.

I can be more present with my kids without scrambling to take a dozen photos to post on three different platforms to see how many likes I get.

It’s just crazy if you really think about it.

I’ve been duped by the allure of social media long enough. I’m done. I’m free. I want out.

And I invite you to take the plunge too! Come on in the waters fine. 🙂
